Psychotherapy and Counselling

Psychotherapy and counselling are terms which are often used interchangeably and, in many respects, there is a lot of overlap. It will look very similar on the surface, I will be using the same techniques and theory but there is a distinction between the two.

Counselling might be seen as being shorter term where you have a specific issue you would like to work through such as a bereavement or life transition. Psychotherapy however, is a deeper exploration and is a way of addressing issues which you may have felt held back by for many years, often leading back to your formative experience, such as low self esteem, lack of confidence or ongoing difficulties within relationships.

I offer psychotherapy in three different formats:

Image of therapy room which is welcoming and calming

Face to Face

My therapy room is in a log cabin looking out on the garden. It is a calm and welcoming space.

Sunlight filtering through the dense green canopy of trees in woodland, with foxgloves growing among lush green foliage.

Walk and Talk

This will begin from my therapy room and go through woodland close by. For some, there can be real benefit being outdoors in nature, walking and talking side by side rather than sitting face to face.

A laptop with a black screen and a white body, placed on a wooden surface.

Online (Google Meet)

Working online offers a great opportunity for those who would find it difficult to access face to face sessions
